Core Components of Judo Training

Ukemi (breakfalls)

Nagekomi (Throwing Practice)

Ukemi refers to breakfall practice for safe falls on the mat.

Nagekomi means “Throwing repetitions”. Students will perform throws or techniques learned in class with a cooperative partner.

Uchikomi (fit ins)

Randori (Sparring)

Uchikomi refers to entries into techniques without the full throw. Students work on refining their off-balancing, footwork, and posture. Often used as a warm-up.

Randori refers to the portion of class with free sparring in a controlled safe environment, where students attempt to implement the techniques learned in class.
